I tend to stick with Meguiars products. ie gel, wax polish. I wax my car about once a month.

Whats a clay bar do?

Removes contaminants in the clear coat, It basically cleans the clear coat, it makes the clear coat 'clearer' if that makes sense?? great base to then lay your protective wax over the top.

Give it a go I promise you wont be dissapointed.

I know Kevin. He's got a well set up shop there
It's just a pity that some of their techniques are outdated.
Limiting yourself to one brand of products is not a good idea imho.

Autosmart's product range is among the best in the world for bulk brands
The ones I use are :

Glass Glow 5 litre (dustless glass polish)
Leather Protectant
G101 Multi Purpose cleaner
Mirror Image & Platinum polish

Most of the products are not up to autopian standards but for bulk products, they are excellent.

The guy you refered to would of been Derek Tubb, the SA distributor for Autosmart.

If you need to use some thing as harsh as Truck wash to clean your ride then its definately needs some attention.

well i just spent 4 hrs fully detailing the mustang for tomorrow
i washed then buffed with 3m cutting compound on a black sponge pad , then washed and used wet look from eagle 1 to remove all the resadue from cuttn compound, then i washed all the dust off and used wax as u dry from eagle 1 , the car looks brand new. and the paint is now 9 yrs old and is a candy apple red with gold fleck and pearl so it should have faded by now but it shines like it was done yesterday.

A Mothers woman myself, lurve the smell of Canuba Wax.

I wash the car once a fornight, do a stage 2 and 3 wax every 2 months, all this and I can't even drive, but hey nothing but nothing beats the looks of our Silver AUII XR8 when it is washed, waxed and hand polished, it just kinda sits there and glows...and I sit there and purr looking at it.....and it's all for love or so I am told... : : :
