Default LED Headlight Globes

Hi all, wanting to upgrade headlight globes to LED low & high beam for 2010 Ford Focus Zetec. Any links for best places to buy would be much appreciated.

Nope, just the OE fitment on modern cars

Can give a strange beam pattern or scatter light above the 'cut off'. We use the ECE type cut off in Australia, what you can do is grab a car with a factory headlight setup, face it at your garage door and then get electrical tape and trace out the beam pattern on the garage door.

Then grab a car with a HID or LED retrofit into the halogen assemblies and see how much light is above that electrical tape.

If you use one of those dodgy HID conversion kits in halogen reflector or projector assemblies you throw light well above that cut off because the focal point difference and that light goes into an incoming drivers face at night.

I haven't done much testing with LED retrofit globes but I don't believe they're anywhere near as bad as HID globes in halogen reflector/projector assemblies.

ADRs also specify some funny things like auto levellers and washers once you start talking things like HID lights, from memory they may list a certain amount of lumens, once you go above this then it asks for the washer systems and auto levellers, which is why hardly any cars in our market had HIDs up until recently as other countries aren't as nazi on this stuff - a whole heap of Jap Imports come out with HID lights in properly designed reflector setups in the 1990s, you'd see it in things like R33 Skylines (D2R type HID globe, D2S for projector type), or the JDM variations of our cars like Mazda 323 et al.

With the terminology of the park globes, W5W is probably the most common type you'll find on the roads, its funny because I'm more familiar with W5W rather than T10 labeling

There you go, some information no one asked for

There are places advertising LED upgrades..

But if you ask them about the legalities don't expect an Honest answer
