Default AU XR8 Alternator Regulator

Guys,

Do you have to remove the alternator to change the alternator regulator with the AU 5.0 XR8’s?

Cheers

It may be possible, but I doubt it.
It's not hard to remove the Alternator.

Keep in mind if the alternator has done enough Km's to wear out the brushes,
the slip rings will be on their last legs as well.

I am getting code P0340 which is camshaft position sensor fault, I have read on the forum to check the voltage of the alternator regulator in first instance which I did today which is reading 13.5 V a little low, should be up around 14 V. This may cause the fault. It is suggested to change this first before changing out other parts or speeding amounts of money trying to rectify the vault. Open for other suggestions.

Cheers

Well is your camshaft position sensor making noise or have you checked it for wear?

FTe342,

Firstly no noise, and how do I check for wear and what to look for. Sorry it’s all new for me when it comes to this sort of stuff.

Cheers

Have a look here: http://fordforums.com.au/wsmpub/augx/Part%2010-1.html

Also here:

The alternator output will be dependent on the state of charge of the battery.
Information on alternators can be found here:
