Hey boys and girls,
Just wanna get some opinions on car painting! I have a perfectly good NA fairlane sitting at my dads place that has peeling clearcoat on bonnet, roof and boot. Wondering if (cost wise) its worthwhile getting just those panels repainted or go the whole car. Color is that light blue. Would like to change colour tho but if the cost is too high would stay blue. Any ideas on what this might cost? Anyone in Brisbane know of anyone? Cheers Brent

The problem with respraying a small number of panels is that due to any fading to the paint, it can be really hard to match the paint. It's not impossible though. I had to get the front of my car resprayed in 2002 (due to accident damage) and the panelbeaters did a great job of matching it. If you find a good panelbeater, they can usually match the paint pretty well.

If you have any spare time, the respray might make a good DIY project and you'd learn a lot. Changing colour is a big job though, as you want to take the whole car apart and remove all evidence of the old colour. ;)
