Question NL fairlane front on EF Futura?

Hi everyone,

i thought this may be the best place to ask.

Is it at all possible to put a NL fairlane front on to an EF (futura)?
I understand that if it is possible i would need new grille, bumper, bonnet, lights, etc.

If it's doable, how complicated is it?

thanks heaps!

yeh its do-able, as under the skin its all the same....(NL Fairlane front IS a fairmont front - just different grille)

you'll have to visit an auto elec to sort out the headlights though, wiring is slightly different

ok, so to fit on to a Futura, what exactly needs to changed?

I have so far:
- Headlights (& wiring)
- bumper
- bonnet
- grille

cheers

yep, thats it.

im not sure if the mods to the wiring are hard, but it isnt much. jsut a resistor or something added...

as the falcon headlights have a single filament globe for low beam(H1) and the fairmont/fairlane headlights have a dual filament globe(H4)

Might want an in-dash switch so you can make use of the foglights too.

NFs and NLs don't have foglights. They are "corner lamps". They come on only when you use your indicators at the same time as your headlights are on to illuminate the approaching curb.

I stand corrected, I always thought they doubled up as fog lamps. You could certainly wire it that way. PS welcome.

Thanks for the welcome Trouty, and I hope I didn't sound like a know-it-all. It's just that I used to have an NF Fairlane. When I bought it I assumed they were foglights as well.

LTD and Fairlane bonnet is the same as fairmont, only difference is the hole for the ornament on the LWB car bonnets

Hey guys, not to highjack the thread - sorta on same wavelength - is it possible to put the EF/EL Fairlane front onto the EF/EL Fairmont? They both look to have the same shaped grill, i just like the Fairlane grill better than the Fairmont.

Cheers.

Is the grill between the Fairmont + Fairlane interchangable without replacing bonnet, lights, guards etc?

yes, thats what was meant by saying they are interchangable.
fairmont, fairlane and ltd have the same front, with ONLY a different grille to diferentiate the models

Well, I found this wagon again, so I took a picture before it disapeared. A flat tyre has caused it to sit on the street for a couple of days now!

Sorry for thread mining and hi-jacking!

it doesn't look that out of place on a wagon.
