I actually called in advance to check they had the part in stock and was told that they do, so I drove over. The front desk is unmanned, I was waiting for a while and then called ford spares on my mobile to tell them I was at the counter along with other customers.
The guy who came over and told me of the hour wait said that they don't consider it an order if someone phones and asks if an item is in stock, so they hadn't thought to tell people the new process when they called up. You have to actually state that you'd like to place an order to kick off the process.

But now you know!
I'm trying really hard for this thread to be a legit heads up to others as opposed to just a whinge.
It is too incredulous to be perceived as a whinge my learned friend.
