Default Balancer Puller Alternative

Well guys after a very frustrating day and nothing good coming out of it in the end I've found a cheaper alternative to the $105 harmonic balancer puller's. It all started yesterday, pulled the balancer out with my $80 repco puller no worries, replaced the balancer seal then put the balancer back in, started the motor up without the drive belt and there was an abnormal rattle/bearing type noise coming from the front of the motor. So I'm thinking I've stuffed something up, maybe the keyway has come slightly out and jammed and is rubbing on the timing gears, so I put the puller back on (which has only been used 5 times) and half way out the thread decides to strip out of the puller. So today I went to repco to buy a new puller, $105 for a new one. I thought bugger that and found a steering wheel puller that looked like it would do the job, $15! bought it and took it home and it worked perfect! Perhaps even better than my $80 that is now useless!

Although the steering wheel puller probably wont last much longer than the $80 puller I'm not fussed cos I'll prolly never use it again

And with the noise that started my frustrations from the begining it ended up not even being from the motor, the throw-out bearing has decided to become noisey. Sometimes I wish I never start fixing the things that are wrong with my car cos everytime I always fix something I always find something else that is buggered.

chin up

I use a $25 universal H/B puller. works well. I have to pack the bolts out with sockets to get it to come right out tho.
