Hi all, I'm planning on staying in Melbourne over the summer break of uni, and I have been considering full time work. I am experienced with detailing (washing, hand polishing and waxing etc), and my question is do you think there would be a demand for a mobile detailer? (I would be specialising in classic and custom cars more so than everyday drivers).
Here is a link to the workshop where I have had detailing experience so you have an idea of the type of cars I have worked on: http://www.facebook.com/MaskellsCustomsandClassics Any input would be appreciated! And if this is in the wrong section sorry, please feel free to move it. Cheers, Jack |

I know alot of people who do it, and business can be hard to come by looking at their experiences. That being said, if its something you enjoy and can advertise well enough to get your name out there why not, just consider the alternatives in terms of $$, as there is easier ways.

Hi Mate. if you cannot do machine polishing then you are at a disadvantage
Plus there is alot of competition Got Eurogloss Prestige, my colleages Dave (Obsession) and Damien (carizzma), mitch (Immaculate Reflections) and Final Inspection in the metro area of melbourne as well as plenty of other lower profile shops and mobile guys |

Go for it, Melbourne is a big city/suburbs with lots of car owners and the competition would be great.

Thanks for the responses, I can machine polish, but if I am working on classic cars I generally prefer not to. I guess what I was asking more specifically is are there ford forums members who would personally consider my services on their older cars? I am gauging for interest, I understand that a lot of people on here would probably prefer to attempt it themselves
