Where'd you hear that?

King Springs have a lifetime warranty, and you find them in most suspension stores.

How about problems with insurance. I was talking to RACV and they seem to have a problem with lowering a car that has been factory lowered (XR6, Tickford, FPV).??

most insurance companies will let you get away with 1 inch lower than stock...
so basically 30mm.. which is Kingspring Lows..

RACV are a bunch of you know whats... I changed over to justcars because RACV would only allow the car to be lowered 30mm max (along with all of these other bs questions), whereas justcars allow for any modification (as long as its roadworthy). My premium is lower with them too which is a bonus.

As for cost, springs should only be about $250 for the set (look on ebay), then add 2-3hrs labour ~$200... or do it yourself if you have the right tools, its not that difficult.

As long as springs are not cut, they are legal and as long there is at least 1/3 original suspension travel and 10cm ground clearance all cool in VIC.

Just car quoted me $ 3100 for insurance and I got $1900 at RACV. I was a 21yo buying a new BA XR6 and never had insurance before (not even nominated) they were the only company that would insure me at rating 3. But i'll keep them in mind when I get rating 1 for life.

Just Car Insurance are a joke, they advertise as some sort of modified specialist insurer. Yet I have been refused insurance through them, age 30, no claims, no convictions/tickets and minor mods. They stink and are a waste of time. Been with the RACV for years. They insured my AU XR8 with a $8000 after market stereo, no probs!!! :

Yep i think Just Car Insurance is a joke as well .
I was going to go with R.A.C.V. but as they did not like the idea of me changing the cam shaft but other then that they where 80 a year cheaper and pay by the month.
I ended up going with A.A.M.I. I got rating 1 for life (not had insurance for a long time just in my name) AND i told them what mods i had and what i was planing to do and all they said that after i have done then if i could supply a R.W.C. for the car with these mods and it will be covered NO PROBS ..

A.A.M.I. was 8 a year more exspensive then R.A.C.V. . BUT at least they will cover the car with all the mods ....

No they are not illegal but in certain circumstances (and this applies to ANY springs - factory or any brand you want to name) they can be illegal and cause insurance headaches.

If you cut, heat or otherwise modify the springs in any way you are asking for trouble and should you find it, insurance wont want to know you.

If you go lower than legal ride height specs or those specified by your insurance company, they again will not want to know you. Typically it is 100mm of ground clearance, which is usually measured from the muffler as this is the lowest part of the car. Go under that and you're not only running an insurance and roadworthy risk, but you're also more likely to stuff the bottom of your car from it hitting everything taller than a 5c piece.

The Golden rule when playing with stuff like this is check with the RTA etc as to what is legal, then check with your insurance co as to what they accept.

Awesome, AAMI has always said no to me, without mentioning mods. How old are you? RACV don't like internals changed. I will check them out again.

Anyone tried Shannons?

Im insured with Shannons....ive found them awesome....they will insure any vehicle with any modification......with agreed value and you can pick your own repairer !! And to make it easy i pay by the month. But they do ask about any driving infringements during the past 5 years, ive only been done for a 0 - 15 klm over the limit about 4 years ago, i told them that and i still had no probs.
