Convoy to Canberra - No Carbon Tax protest

Came across the rally which is already building up a lot of support.

Ignoring politics as per the site's T&Cs, I thought it would be good to inform members of this rally which will ultimately impact on peoples families and industries - such as Ford Australia (whether positively or negatively).

Not a debate about climate change, rather this rally is to highlight what this tax will or will not achieve.

edit: probably best moved to The Bar, maybe one of the Mods could move it?

Yes some of the bigger transport companies will be backing this.. Can't wait to see how many roll out.

Well, the more I read the more I found myself wanting to attend. We have decided that me and my eldest boy are packing up the car on Saturday and driving to Canberra. Some of the convoys have over 100 vehicles in it already, should be a great atmosphere in Canberra on Monday - the convoys are even getting a Federal Police escort to parliament house!

Great excuse for a road trip and to catch up with my uni bound son.

I dont see this any different to a thread about vehicle tariffs which are enacted by a government and which affect motoring or Ford Australia enthusiasts...just as much politics there.

The rally itself is politically motivated... therefor this is a thread about politics... and how does this relate to an automotive subject? The fact they are driving?

Would have been an interesting topic as it could possibly be a very big event with a few themes running throughout the convoy, but basically it is calling for an election.

Yes it is political, even though the organisers have themselves say it isn't ....... it is the mods call and discretion to let threads run to see how intelligent the conversation stays and on topic but unfortunately it will be spoilt by others who have political agendas ............ and just so we don't upset the 'Mod Police' and I get into trouble for NOT closing a thread, I will close it.
