Default Viscus fans

Got new fan blades and viscus hub fitted to my XG (4 lt) ute this week and even in the middle of winter at 4 am the fan is constantly running on a cold motor. Is there any thermo adjustment on a Ford viscus fan? Is there a locking pin or bolt that needs to be removed once the hub is fitted?? It sounds like a airplane.

Some thermatic viscous fans have a bimetallic spring at the front which controls the fluid in the hub, this can be adjusted, but dont know what you have

can you rotate the fan when its stationary?, or is it locked on the hub, if its locked there is something wrong with it.

most thermatic viscous fans will be in the minimum slip position when cold until they are spun to ~3000rpm, and then the should resort to the max slip position and stop sounding like an aeroplane. Hold the motor at 3000+rpm for a few seconds and see if it makes a difference.

Cheers Sudszy I will check it out and give it a try. Car is at work at the moment. I will let you know the out come.

Yeah the one in my XE does that , when cold bring the revs up around 2000 and you can hear the fan drop out after about 10 seconds
