Default Beep Beep Beep...

As a happy owner of a new high series cluster (see this thread
http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=11319816 )

Now every time I start the car it sounds Beep Beep Beep...

What is it warning me off? Sounds like DTE alarm.

Are you starting the car with the door open?

Not starting with door open, I can't see the DTE flash in the cluster like I did when the low series.

In my experience with my S2 Fairmont6:

Door position during engine start will not activate any warnings...

With the DTE less than 80 km, yes the beeping will sound a series of three beeps, about six or so times...in this instance, on the screen, only the accompanying text will flash, not the actual number...

with you sitting in the car without the seatbelt fastened, there are no audio warnings...

There's nothing else I can think of at the moment!

Cheers

an open door DOES activate a warning but the beep is slightly different to the low fuel one you get at DTE 80, 40 and 20

ive never had one for a seatbelt before and i would have definitely noticed one as i always reverse out my drive and dont put my seatbelt on till after i finish reversing

i have noticed my cluster beep weird at me once before after i had pulled it out and plugged it back in messing around with some things and i think it wasnt functioning right somehow minor from memory but it was a fair while ago now so im not 100%

i know i just pulled it out again and took out the plugs and then put them back in and it worked fine after that? cant help you more than that sorry

DTE is on the Climate Control display in the High Series cars so you won't see anything on the cluster.....

Not necicarily true if someone has swapped some things around.

I have a 1999 fairmont, and ive put the blue Xr6 cluster in it. Now the DTE is on the cluster in front of me, not on the climate control one.

What level is the petrol gauge at? If it's around 1/4 tank, I'd say it's DTE.

An XR cluster is a mid series and if you've got a Fairmont or Fairmont Ghia then you've got a high series.

On the high series, doesn't the DTE warning come on the Climate Control area with the other fuel, km warnings etc? If so, then doesn't that explain why you can't see the DTE on the cluster?

any you have to clear it or it goes on for ever, unlike the XR that stops after a little while

I usually keep 1/4 to 1/2 a tank around town. I run the car for 30-40 Km's per week on petrol.

3/4 or more on an interstate run, then run it back down to the 1/2 way mark, with injector cleaner.

It's morphing into a Plymouth Roadrunner "beep beep".

Sounds like fuel ... seeing as UK is on LPG ... and barely uses petrol anyway ... he's probably not used to the DTE warning for petrol ... hee hee

It's a bit like that.

I thought DTE was only 9 beeps? Hmm maybe I will check when I get low on fuel this week.

My XR also beeps for seatbelt.

AU3 Ghia - doesn't beep for seatbelt and as UK said, beeps 12 sets of 3 beeps @ <80km (just checked).

actually, that is a very good thought...

UK, go out and look for the airbag light, if there is no light, start the car and see if the beeping starts a little bit after you start it.. or check the fuse for the airbag
