Cool Rain damage

Hi all
Ive got an AU Fairmont and after the torrential rain
we had here in Brisbane close to 90mm per day
well the clear on the roof has lifted
it looks like crocodile skin
you can see the water under the clear coat
we had hail but no hail damage as such
Im not sure of the colour it is dark metalic blue
possibly pacific blue
has this happened to anyone else here on the forums
the car has fully comp insurance
does anyone think this would be covered
thanks John

I cant see why it wont be covered. Do you have any insurance booklets lying around that you can look at it should have what is and isn't covered in there.

dark metallic blue would be galaxy blue (paint code GY) or monsoon blue if its really dark. The clear on the roof of my Galaxy blue AU peeled like crazy, fairly sure it started after we had some really heavy rain, might be a fault in the paint.

i seen that on a customers astra once, that was a dark blue as well on a very wet day.

there was like big water bubbles under the clear coat all over the boot and the roof. had never seen paint do that before.
pointed it out to the lady before i started working on it and then when they came back to pick it up the husband tried to blame me for wrecking their paint. duh.

Cool Rain damage

Thanks for your replies
and also 5.0 yes I remember the code of GY
well I rang the insurance co APIA
and told the girl there about the problem
with the roof and the bonnet
its booked in for next month for asessment at AMI
or I can get 2 quotes and of course they take the lowest
she says its all covered
I guess they will repaint the roof and bonnet
I drove it today and the clear just peeled off
there is also some paint missing from the front bumper
and a scratch on the rear one
can I get them to paint those parts at the same time
Ive never had a claim before so not sure what to do
anyone got any idea on costs for the extra bits
and last APIA want $450 excess up front
thanks John

Mate i remember reading about galaxy blue a while back on AFF there was a fault with the paint and ford resprayed quite a few cars for free as rain should not damage your paint in that way.

http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthr...=paint+peeling

Sorry it was shockwave that was peeling off on the BA/Fs but its still the same blue really.

being a AU its outside of the 5 year warranty so it will not be easy but trying calling 13FORD and say your paint is just peeling off, i would not say anything about the rain as they may say its an insurance thing.

Its more likely that the paint was already degrading and the rain just pushed it along.
