I wasn't born in the 60s, 70s, and too young to remember the 80s, but I got into cars around 1993-1994 thanks to Larry Perkins, and Peter Brock. So for me probably the mid 90s up until now.

First Aussie V8 I remember was my uncle's V8 VL Calais. That was back in 94.

I'd go 63-73. That way I've covered the early falcons, the and the best part of the Australian muscle car era.

Depends what you're after.

For me, 70s were the best looking...and from a performance point of view, we saw the last of the HO, and the GT disappeared for many years...from the end of XB, we didn't see the GT until the EB...18 years?

BUT Falcons today look bloody tops, are more comfortable, have more room, perform better, come better equipped and are safer.

It depends what you regard as a good car.

Best to worst IMO

2000s - Multiple performance models. XR6T, XR8, T3, G6ET, FPV and SS, HSV. The quickest and best performing era.
70s - Best looking and with performance to match. XA-XC coupes and GTHOs.
90s - Some good looking cars. Cars werent that quick but the odd standout model
80s - Personaly dont like the look of either the Fords or Holdens from this era. XF wagon single handedly the worst looking Falcon ever. Performance generally poor.

I dont know too much about the 60s so dont want to comment. Would probably have it above 80s and below 90s if anything.

70's for muscle, 2000-present where the locals were actually worthwhile buying. FG has to be the highlight of the decade with the star of the class the G6ET.

60s and 70s era and upto the early 80s is what floats my boat....

Modern is a bit meh to me but I would love to own another turbo sometime in the near future!

65 to 75 saw a lot more comprehensive change in the Australian auto world. When you consider in 1965 the average car was a rag tyred, drummed braked, no seat belts as standard and column shifted manual. By 1975 most were radial tyred, disc brake front, compulsory seat belts and floor shift autos were becoming more common and standard.
During that era maunfacturers locally went from dabbling in performance cars (Cortina and S4 EH which really had minimal changes from stock) to a full blown performance war (GT, GTHO, GTS, GTR, R/T) the likes of which we haven't seen since.
