E85 Roll Out Begins

The timing (octane) side of the problem is solvable as you can run the lesser timing, but the % mixture of Ethanol will change your AFR's considerably.

For example, if your car is tuned to run on winter grade "E70" at a WOT AFR of 12.5:1, by filling up with summer grade "E85", your AFR effectively moves to 13.6:1.

Winter grade E85 is only sold in the US Northern States and in Canada
where it gets 'bbbbb... freezin'....

Flex fuel engines have ECU maps to cover all concentrations from straight petrol to E85.
They must also have a wide band (lambda) Exhaust Gas Temperature sensor in the exhaust manifold.
So I wonder if Ecoboost 2.0 Falcon will be flex fuel....

Mate, I bet you any money you like that Caltex will vary the % Ethanol in the fuel sold in Victoria over the 12 months seasonal cycle when their E85 program goes live next year..... 6 degree mornings here in Perth often result in "No start" situations on E85. As soon as you add some more ULP to the mix the issue is resolved.

It gets a hell of a lot colder than 6 degrees in parts of Victoria.

Flex fuel cars also run a sensor in the tank that monitors Ethyl Alcohol % as well.... the fuel map is then adjsuted via "Stoich equivalence".

This is the station I use and have been using for some time each week. If I could get it closer to the south I would. At the same time, I use the 100ron fuel in conjunction with the E85 as my car is tuned specifically for a 60/40 blend. The more pumps the better IMO only because I use it. As a blend, its safe as long as your car is tuned for it.
