I don't think a zeta based car was ever really on the 'menu'. Alpha is where its at now as far as GM's RWD future is concerned - they are moving as fast as they can to switch Camaro to that platform.

I think GM will be happy to hold onto their current Impala sales to police fleets.

2012/2013 before you see the first of the Alpha platform cars.
Camaro won't shift until 2015 model.

Sigma Mk II now has Zeta suspension and Zeta is being lightened.
Neither Sigma or Zeta is flexible for width changes but Alpha will be.
Holden will be able to build "Torana" and "Commodore" off the Alpha platform.

Caprice will be gone by then, replaced by FWD Luxury vehicle on Epsilon II.

To compete, next Falcon probably needs to cover "Mustang", a mid sized "Cortina"
and a lighter Falcon on closely aligned frames and engineering modules...
