Love what the buyer is doing. Pretty obvious the seller wanted more coin for the RX7, and decided to rip it apart in jest. Guess it pays to buy ( pay for) on inspection where fleabay is concerned.

I know if that bloke had done that to me, I'd be a damn sight more ropeable than he is..

But he went about it so well! A damaging website that isn't illegal, hurts the most I think.

if you follow the link to the ausrotary.com website(you will have to register to see it) you will see that the same seller was trying to sell a red rx7 that looks identical to the first one.one of the forum members decided to waste the sellers time.the reply's he got looks very similar to the first story, except that the seller claims he had a bad dealing with the white rx7. here is the link to the topic on ausrotary.com site.

I would bet that he was! They usually have those really good mobile numbers too. Co-incidence or what?

I only hope the guy who scammed him doesn't turn out to be someone who is quite happy to kill, or has "friends".

Wow, what a read.

The seller appears to letting his ego get in the way of common sense!
This problem could have gone away fairly quickly.
I feel for most people that get scammed.
Good on the Buyer for sticking to his guns

Simply, the message is;

-Try to view car first
-Use pay pal
-Front up with cash or bank cheque.

Its pretty disgusting what some people do on eBay.

Many years ago while seaching for an XB I can across a coupe for sale in Rockhampton (700km away). It was in black primer and just a rolling shell.
I watched the auction as the starting bid was cheap. It eventually went for a large amount of money (well over priced) and thought nothing of it.

A week later the same seller has yet another "rolling shell" for sale, but in grey primer.
I looked carefull at each picture and noticed that it was the same coupe!
I then noticed that the current bidder was the same person who won the car the previous week!

I looked at the history of both bidder and seller and found that they had been bidding and "winning" items from each other.

The seller even left great recommendations on the buyer.....

Around the same time an black XB sedan was for sale in NSW.
The sellers name caught my eye as it had some name of an adult toy shop!
It was apparently a female selling the car.
The sedan looked nice, but the photos were a bit small.

Again the car sold (to a buyer with hardly any points).
A week or so later I saw the same car up for sale by winner !
Claiming they had owned the car for years and it was time to get rid of it.... according to the female seller.
Oddly enough the same pictures were used and the car was now in a different state!?

Again when i looked at the bidding history I saw that these same two users had been buying and selling from each other.

All four bidders/sellers were reported and banned, but i wonder how many people were ripped off by shill bidding? (where you get your mates to bid on your stuff to drive the price up/ or you bid on the item yourself by using a 2nd account).

I have used EVILBAY over 100times to buy items and only one was ripped off (an XB door handle! $27. The user cancelled his account a week after payment. And no responce from eBay).

I managed to also buy an XB sedan sight unseen from Brisbane.
Now the owner was impossible to contact (as he was moving house apparently) after payment was made.
At no stage did he say anything about moving etc....
So i was ready to call Police after waiting 48hrs and no phone calls.
I did manage to get someone I knew in Brisbane to the address to see what was going on and the car was on the footpath, but no one was at the house.

I did get the XB finally, but not after much worry that I had lost my money.

I can only recommend a few things:
If your buying, try and buy something within your own state/ reasonable distance from you.
At least then your not crossing 1000 of kms in a hurry to see if the car is real or not.

If you have friends in that city, get them to go out there as soon as possible to check the car out.
Or maybe even make a request on here to see if there are members in that locality.

Make sure you have set out the terms of payment.
Get the seller to send you an email.
DONT DO IT OVER THE PHONE.

If your a seller:
Keep in contact with the buyer.
If your busy with work, let them know!
Dont dissappear for days on end when you have just received someones money as it makes them VERY nervous.
