Default Holdens employee pricing.

Going cheap, Holden are slashing prices of the majority of models to full time Holden employees.
Commodore SS $33453
Commodore SS-V $38703
Commodre SV-6 Sportswagon $32053
Caprice V8 $52843
Calais V V6 $39753

Most Aus builds are 30% off plus onroads.
The imports are 20% off plus on roads.
Why are the going broke again?

Now that is good pricing. Do you have a full list (of Commonbore models)? I assume it is only for employees and not like Fords employee friend scheme. I would be jumping on an SSV sportswagon now if it was around $40k.

Is this to clear the old models before the SIDI models go on sale ??? If I worked for HOLDEN I would get a Calais V wagon.

No, I think it's to make way for the whole series 2 range, which of course, includes the sidi sixes.

So what's employee pricing for Falcons and other Ford products? Makes me cringe when dealerships say there's no money in new car sales when you're negotiating a new car purchase. I've never seen a poor dealer principle..........

In truth, if I worked at Holden I'd be getting a black ss manual, that price is to die for when you consider what they retail for. Thing is...I wouldn't because I'd rather pay full price for an xr8!

The timing of this really doesn’t make sense as there’s been no change to V8 models with the MY10 update. I wonder if Holden is trying to spike sales to make it look like there’s interest in the new model.

When you think about it realistically they wouldn’t get much of an increase in demand from the update because:

1. 50% of Commodore business is Fleet (they’ll always buy Holden regardless of model)
2. Incentives on run out MY9.5’s would have kept demand high.
3. 25% of Commodore business is for V8 engines (there’s been no change to this model)
4. The Holden Cruze is a newer model and appears to be cannibalising retail Commodore sales.

It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out for Commodore sales in the coming months.

About the same?

No need to cringe. The Factory subsidises these prices in a big way. There is SFA in new cars (ford the dealership) at the moment with the discounted pricing thats about.
The reson you don't see poor dealer principles is becouse there dealerships have closed down and there goooooooooooooorn. There have been a lot go bust over the last 18mths.

Speaking for myself and where i work, the employee discounts arent a limited time deal, basically if a full time (and not on probation) holden employee wants to buy a commodore, its a 30% discount, the imported models are only 20%

occasionally there'll be discount schemes where the general public is offered "employee discount pricing" and thats the only occasions where its for a limited time - usually to clear out existing stock

I can tell you for fact that dealers make effectively nothing out of employee priced vehicles. The full discount must be passed on and the only monies retained by the dealer are a reduced PD fee. From which the dealer must PD and detail the car. Only benefit to the dealer is a number towards target achievement. And these discount are not provided on normal stock units.

Don't let the new Demo and the nice suit fool you. I have seen plenty off poor Dealer Principals don't worry about that. I have even spent time installing adiminstrators in there place. Something I'd rather never do again.

Motor dealerships run on such a small percentage profit margin, and usually with a high dependeance on finance companies to fund the business that it doesn't take much to to go from rooster to feather duster, as many have done in the last 12 months.

Of course there are some who run a tight ship and invest back into their businesses and make some money, but that applies to any business, automotive or otherwise doesn't it.

I don't know how it works for Holden but in Fords case the employee discount of 21% comes from Fords end, not the dealerships.

I wish we got 30% off Falcons and not 21%. Holdens deal is much better.
