Let alone the cost. You would be looking at spending $5K+ on fuel and normal wear and tear alone just to teach your son/daughter the Basics :
I do agree that a defensive or advanced driver course would be the best bet, but at $150-200 a pop I can't see the Government subsidizing it.
And I doubt a gore movie/test will affect many people, but would be worth a try.
The point of more time on the L's is to learn MORE than the basics. That, and the current testing system, means (as I've said) people know how to steer a car and park. They have NO idea what to do when things don't go to plan.

As for the gore movie, it may not help, but it sure won't hurt. I'd have to be really graphic. Some accident victims talking etc. Part of the attitude adjustment I mentioned.

Or simply move driving age to 25 when they've grown the up. Then just make sure they're taught properly.

In short
- Current licensing system = joke
- incorrect attitude of young'ns = dangerous (I'm only 27)

so that even worse the government will just say that even if we did give them a safe place to drag race they will still do it on the street.

to me its all about mind set and maturity , if you are a moron you will do these things with no thought to anyones safty , and that goes for L platers if you are a idiot on your Ls you will drive like one.

but it also doesnt help to have a car that can do 100km/h in 5.5 seconds under your foot.

Mine is capable of 0-100 in about 5.5 minutes, yet i could still kill my self in it before then.

But as you said, its all about attitude, now the question remains, how can you change someones attitude towards driving?

I think they said on the news that the knuckle heads have been already charged with street racing. If this is the case im reliably informed that their insurance WILL NOT be covering them.
BTW ch9 showed a yellow xr6 turbo but it had BTA stickers up the sides.Dont know if it was the one in the crash but they showed it at E.Creek going up the 1/4 mile.
Just found some pics on net and the car on rhe roof doesnt have BTA stickers up the sides.Typical ch9!!!!

yeah a full modded xr6 turbo, not an F6.. He has done the cross over pipework, bigger intercooler, and well, as many of us know on here, also more than likely injectors, valve springs etc etc.. Making some serious power probably..
Oh well, at least noone was killed and hopefully they learn their lesson.. Shame it has to happen this way thats all.
