Default 4X4 Falcon.

Does anybody know any one or any web sites, that have Falcons converted to 4x4s. Im not talking about the Xy utes that were available, although I would be interested to see some pics and some info on them as well.

cheers.

I have seen an add for an XY panel van which used the same gear as the utes, nothing else.

Edit: Also an XY wagon, also using 4x4 ute front end

I don't think there are many apart from those 'overlander' conversions - featuring old holden of ford bodies on nissan chassis'. (not even so sure that they were available with ford bodies!)

While add's claim that they were factory, i think most you see in unique cars are conversion jobs. i've certainly never heard of a factory 4WD falcon - apart from the territory mules, and an AWD turbo XF concept that got written off in scotland!...

-Stu

EDIT: derr, just read over your post - this isn't anything to do with what your asking. sorry! You could try searching for overlander 4WD conversions - but it's hard given there is an overlander 4WD magazine...

EDIT2: well look i was just wrong wrong wrong.

There was only 432 XY ute 4X4s ever made. Best info I could find is that they still go for between $7k and $12k.

I did a number of googles searches, and all results kept coming back to the territory, so I gave in and posted the link anyway.

Unhappy

I nearly bought an XY 4X years ago. I thought 6 grand was a bit high...

Just found a little bit of info on them... I thought they originally built them to try and get the army to take up a contract... the army went with Landrover instead.

XY Falcon 4x4

YEah I have seen an XC wagon, a few XY wagons, An XT wagon and an XE ute, oh and there was that black XC coupe as well, but I was kinda interested in the details of which drive line they used etc. I know the XYs used a jeep set up, but I would like to know of anybody that has done it with a coil spring chasis and what issued are involved with getting it licenced.

They where all built in Queensland. They used the Jeep runing gear. Bill Tuckey did a bit on them in his book True Blue page 182. Would you like me to scan it for you to read.

No chassis required it all fits under the std shell

If you can get a look at a factory 4x4 you will see where everthing fits
Kit has all the the required brackets to do the conversion
including
spring mounts
g/box x member
engine mounts to tilt engine over on its side similar to slant valiant position
breaces under the front guards that go from rad support to firewall etc

you will need diffs---cj5 or cj6 jeep
g/box & transfer case

missing
very front spring hangers behind front bumper
shock tower braces

send me a pm with your email add & i'll send you some pics

regards
