Whoops, sorry. Thinking of 'The Great Escape'. His own bike there, no 'Stangs in WW2

What about the big ending in Midnite Spares where the yello xa coupe with a factory sunroof lands on top of a leyland p76 and they chase in the aquaducts?

You guys need to read the whole thread. We'll end this right now:

"Though it is widely believed that Steve McQueen, who was a great race car driver, did the bulk of the driving stunt work, the stunt coordinator, Carey Loftin, had famed stuntman and motorcycle racer Bud Ekins do most of the risky stunts in the Mustang (Ekins also doubled for McQueen in one sequence of The Great Escape, in which McQueen's character jumps over a barbed wire fence on a motorcycle)."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bullitt#Trivia

In addition, I have documentaries on DVD which include interviews with both McQueens family and Bud Ekins who confirmed this.

[QUOTE=Dave_au]What about BMW's "The hire" series - there is an awesome one of Clive Owen driving a BMW M5 with Madonna getting thrown around the back of the car.

Some nice ones there
Seven ups is a top one. Roy scheider almost gets his head taken off when he slams into the **** end of a truck.

French connection is great.I was watching that on laserdisc the other day.

How about THE CAR. James brolin on his bike being chased by a monster creation of Mr BARRIS. One of the most prized videos of my collection.

Vanishing point "71" is tops
I bought the video from the states before even seeing it. Worked out well
Midnite spares is just awesome. Go the coupe.

Have to go through my collection and see what car chase video relics I can find and see if I can mention one that you guys haven't seen

It was called Star ... there were several others as well ... and when the new Z4 came out too.

EDIT: Bugger .... they took them down off the BMW USA site.
I guess it's just a case of going through youtube and finding them
What a pain that it is blocked through work .... grrr.

Can't believe you guys missed one of the best cult car chases ever!? VANISHING POINT
Though, I guess I would be a "little" biased. lol Still Ford or not it's a great movie........

Here's a clip from the remake: 1968 Dodge Charger R/T vs 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7GUcI-KfXXs

I thought Bullitt was "OK" nearly 1-1/2 hours of dribble for a 4 minute car chase. Not sure who posted it but I wouldn't trust anything where members of the www can edit and change things...........I'd believe CNN before Wikipedia. Vanishing Point IS a car chase the whole way through. For the record IMO the original is best.

Gotta be Bullit, where Steve McQueen overtakes the same green VW beetle at least four times.

Thunder road is another one with the moonshiners and the cops back in the 50's
Although not really a typical chase film, pitstop of 1968 is a good one for the time with the figure 8 racing.

I also have cannonball aka carquake.

Didn't see this one mentioned yet, Dirty Mary Crazy Larry, that whole movie is a chase like Vanashing Point, cept this starts as a supermarket robbery and then the rest of the movie is the cops trying to chase them down.

30 square miles of nuthin but roads and 60 diffrent exits.

American Graffiti when the Pharoahs (in the georgeous bronze MERC) fly past the cops in the car yard, but the diff on the cop car has been chained so when they reach the driveway *%#@*&%^. Theres the cop car in the middle of the road looking like a tail-dragger and its diff in the gutter still attached to the chain. Bwahahahah. Gotta love OL' SKOOL. : Not exactly a chase scene but well worth the mention.
