Default I need help with the missus car please

Hey guys like the title says i need some advise. She has a 1990 Mazda 323 astina with the 1800 DOHC (same as some lasers). Now the problems we are having are that every now and then especially when its hot the car starts running really rough and flatspotting a little, then sometimes when you put it into park the revs will jump to 1500-2000. She had a mechanic give it a tune and I threw some new leads on it but not much has changed. Im thinking a new dizzy cap and rotor button but i thought id get some advise from you guys as she is low on funds.

Any advise would be apreciated.

CHEERS!!!

your on the right track . it could be many things though , are the spark plugs tight . get a water bottle with a spray pump. about 5 bucks from hardware and when engine is cold and running spray soapy water around the inlet , and throttle body, manifold etc . also at night run it in the garage with light off . look for sparks . is your battery connections tight . it could be coil breakdown also . lots of thuings . these are just a few .
it sounds electrical because it happens when hot.

coolant temp sender.

almost guarantee it.

not expensive either so replace that before you spend any more money.

Cheers for the advise guys time to get into the shed!!

eb91xr6 we only relaced the motor about 12 months ago anyway, plus if i were to go a hipo motor id just get one from a familia or tx3 seeing as it will prettymuch bolt in.

They had issues with the electronic ignition module ... which is not repairable (replacable only unit) ... not that cheap either.

Dizzy Cap and rotor button is a good idea as well.

YEAH, absolute doddle.

go and buy the new one then you'll know what you're looking for in the engine bay.

single spanner job, take you about 12nanoseconds.

do it with engine cold and remember to top up any lost coolant
