Default 3,000 Booked for Speeding in QLD ?? Figures don't add Up.

MORE than 3000 people have been caught speeding in Queensland in the first day of a road safety campaign running across the state.

Police said they started phase two of the Queensland Christmas Road Safety Campaign on Monday with more than 3,000 speeding detections recorded.

This phase of the campaign coincides with a national road safety operation, Operation Crossroads and runs from Monday 23 December, 2013 to Friday, 3 January 2014.

During the Christmas holiday period, Queensland Police will be out in force specifically targeting the Fatal Five: speeding, fatigue, impaired driving (drink and drug), failure to wear a seat belt and distraction/inattention in a concerted effort to minimise road trauma.

The road toll stood at 268 yesterday, compared with 277 at the same time last year.

Acting Police Minister Andrew Powell said Queenslanders needed to arrive at their destinations safely.

"One fatality on Queensland roads is a fatality too many," he said.

"If you speed, drink drive, don't pay attention, don't wear a seatbelt or drive while tired, you will not only be caught by police, but you risk your life and the life of every other road user - and that is just not acceptable."

My Comment More than 3000 booked for speeding ??? thats 178 a minute over the 24 hour period ??? and I believe in Santa Claus !!!!
