G'Day All,
I am dead keen on 'enlisting' my services to the NSW State Emergency Services. There are a number of reasons why, and as it stands I have served in the RAAF for nearly 7 years now, and my opportunities for utilising my training have almost been exhausted, there is very little else I can do in that regard. So I have been slowly researching what roles are available and what pre-requisites I would have to meet in order to render some kind of effective volunteer service which would benefit the community I live in. I see their training is all nationally accredited, with competencies assessed and issued for the respective roles. It also appears that the training is heavily utilised when things get real (As opposed to what I am trained for now..... which, touch wood, just isnt likely to happen...) I'd be proud to say I helped somewhere where it counted.... at the grass roots, fellow neighbour level. Giving something effective back to my community really appeals to me personally so I would like to know if anyone has any advice or guidance as to their own experience in the SES which may be of assistance? Cheers. |
