Default Re: Diesel Particulate Filter Problems

My Pajero has now done 85,000km since new. Not had one DPF light come on once. 99% of the time this vehicle is used on VERY short trips for school runs. Occasionally it will do 1000km in a week but thats once every 3 months.

I know when its trying to do a burn off, as the fuel consumption will go through the roof for a short period of time... EG. Driving @ 100kph, normal consumption would be 9.5 or thereabouts, when its doing a burn off, its about 12-13 litres per 100km... after 5 minutes, it just settles down and gets on with business.

NS Pajero's were/are notorious for having problems with DPF, so either people have worse driving conditions than what i have used mine, or I have just been lucky. Definitely has one fitted, as it has never blown one puff of black smoke, and the exhaust is pretty much completely clean, when it comes wash time.....
