Well looky there.... AMac reckons the GT will be renamed XR8 in the next model......

Now that will only leave:
It is too expemsive
It is not N/A
It is too expensive
There is no wagon
It is too expensive
It does not have LPG
It is too expensive
It is not the right colour
It is too expensive
Holden sell the SS for $29.95 Ford must compete
It is too expansive
New cars are a rip off why don't they put them out as fleet/rentals
It is too expensive

as the reason why the usual suspects won't buy one.

That is very ****! But not even slightly surprising. GT R-Spec now goes down in history as the best Falcon ever...

Ok, so they're going to kill the GT basically in name, and revive the XR8 and make it the GT in body and practice. Retarded decision is retarded.

Also Flappist you forgot the highly sought after RTV Fairlane option.

R Spec owners will be the winners out of this. They will eventually be the most collectible Falcon ever one would expect.

Hmmm, I just remembered there is actually a precedent for this, the EB GT was replaced by the XR8 Sprint.

Of course this might be a bit of "burley" to attract potential "last GT ever I will make a fortune as a collector" buyers......

AMac used to be FPV's minister for truth......

The final XR8 should also go down as a future collectable being the only XR8 to come factory supercharged. Might have to go down and talk to my local.

The best guesses I've seen still point to F6 dropped with potentially an XR6T310 model, GS dropped for XR8 and GT to remain with a few option packs replacing GTP etc.

...And a Twin turbo V8 Mustang in the pipeline

I vote make the last Falcon with everything optional. XT manuals with LSDs, brembos and supercharged V8s for the win!!

P.S. I am a non-new falcon buyer who also agrees that country packs should be made available

Killing off the FPV brand/badge but keeping the range available under Ford badging? I can live with that.

My first thought was surely they'd want to keep the GT badge up to the end (ie Ford Falcon GT) but as FoA have proved time and again, neither logic OR emotion have any place in their marketing.

Well the FPV brand is dead with Falcon, its easier to wind it down gradually than simply come November 2016 theres nada.

If its really an issue of developing FPV specific bodykits they might have an extended lip kit or such for the GT, based on the XR gear.

I guess the projected sales volumes didnt justify the cost for the GT/FPV body kit and wheels, will be very interesting to see the pricing and if there is a XR8(GS) and an XR8 Sprint (GT Spec) as has been talked about in another thread with two levels of XR6T possibly avalible.

It's a shame not to see the GT get a final freshen up.

Marketing has no place in their marketing...

It makes no sense to revive xr8 at the expense of gt, even though it would be the best xr8 ever.

Gt badge has a hell of a lot more heritage, and really who's gonna pay 70-80k for an xr8? Regardless of how good it is?

My pick is the same old, gs becomes xr8, gt is sole hipo option. No f6, gtp etc.
no fpv. Ford branded only.

Personally, I will wait until the 13 August media event rather than relying on this drivel from Drivel, as I see they are still vainly clinging to their hope the Toreass will replace the Falcon. That in itself renders the credibility of the article at almost zero.

Can't see them tooling up GT body kits on the 2014 Mid cycle update.

This would mean GT is dead.
