Default Resty's minor problem

This prolly aint worth a thread but thought I would ask anyway.

I turn the lights on and foggies on.

The light on the switch to indicate lights are on, sometimes flashes on and sometimes does not at all.

Fuse? Should I check my lights? I cant remember whether or not both reverse lights work (only one is at the moment) or is it just the one on our zetecs?

Thanks - delete if need be.

blah,
riz

my light switch on my Zetec hasnt flashed yet, always on once turned on.

and my Zetec has not had any rear light mods done, so its still one reversing light and the rear fog light.

Alright, from the best of my knowledge...

You had the factory bodykit fitted at purchase, where they would have replaced the rear fog light with another reverse light and wired it up accordingly. From what I know, both reverse lights should come on when reverse is selected.

I have heard reports that the rear fog light indication on the dash may come on when reverse is selected, as a leftover to when it used to be a fog light, but I am not sure if thats true or not on the factory conversions? However, both reverse lights should work when reverse is selected in your case.

Onto the headlight problem, the light on the light switch aseembly to tell you when the lights are on should be on constantly when the headlights are. If thats not happening, as you describe, I would see Ford (or pull it apart yourself, this requires removing the trim panel under the steering wheel and accessing it from inside the dash). It doesn't sound like a fuse if it works some of the time, it sounds like a loose connection.

Tim

I have spoken to ford and booked this in for when i have the 30k service next week

yeah got he car back today

Ford are a bunch of INCOMPETENT IMBICILIC MORONS !!!!

and I hope they read this !

The service centres official explanation is that it isnt a problem as those marks are painted onto the dial and therefore have never lit up.

Told them that this was rubbish as it only stopped working a couple of weeks ago, so one guy came out and had a look and saw the first 2 worked, the next 2 dont and the 2 for the fogs do.

So he is going to "chase it up" and " call me tomorrow " about it.

After i get my tyres on tomorrow morning, im going back down there as had to go to work and cbf with it tonite, to tell them its and i am ****ed for having to waste my time for something that was meant to have been fixed when i bought it in today.

Going to ask to speak to the mechanic and tell him he is a ing moron and couldnt work on the ing car to save his life.... (wish he was a forum member).

So hopefully after tomorrow I will have a better resolution, then what these ing monkey men can come up with.

Just another poor and pathetic showing by Ford mechanics, and another reason I will never buy a Ford again.

Chris

you know I have this theory on Car Dealership Service Centres where you care is still under warranty...

"if it aint broken so bad that the car wont run anymore, we dont recognise it as a problem".

then as soon as warranty period runs out:

"ah mate this is rooted, thats stuffed, you need to replace tha while lot"

yeah thats about how they all operate

went back in today and told the service receptionist lady that im back cos this is rubbish and the "tech" is basically calling me a liar.

has a look at a sedan on the lot before i went in and what do you know, they actually light up... amazing ! .. so much for them all being painted on... stupid **** mechanic

had the service divison manager look at it, take it in right about for about 30 mins come back and say yep the switch has 2 soldered globes that cant be replaced so we will need to re book it and order a new switch to replace it all

so its in for the 25th to have the new switch put it, they didnt apologise that they were wrong ( would have been nice but i knew they wouldnt ) turned around and said to the manager " well at least we know there is a problem hey... "

so should be done by the end of the month now.

on a good note, i got my new tyres on today, and they are nice

Glad something's gone right for you regarding it.

Just goes to show the customer can be right for a reason, they spend every day in the car and know when something is wrong.

All the best with it Chris!

I wrote a letter about my another problem ages agos. The indicators were going off for now reason at that stage and it took em ages to fix. I had someone from their complaints dept call me regarding the matter and got a replacement vehicle till they fixed the problem. What happend to customer service. You go to buy something and they make ya coffee and sandwich, you have a problem and it's your fault!!

I can't even begin to put into words my sheer disgust with ford at this very moment.

Got there at 8am this morning, " oh sorry the part hasnt arrived " is all they can say.

Went off at them needless to say, then told the manager guys manager what a bunch of incompetant staff who have no idea about cars he has.

Waiting on a call from them to tell me when my part is going to arrive.

Was an expensive day

$15 cab to get into the city

Break $300 sunnies, replace with $230 sunnies

Break $800 camera, replace with $1500 camera.

I am thinking i will be sending them the bill for all that so they can pay, if i had my car fixed wouldnt have had those other issues.

I will never be buying a ford again.. the service stinks and is extremely sub standard... now to put this in a letter to their DP and ford cust care... ( as if they will even care though)

That sucks Chris, dealers shooting themselves in the foot. It's their job to maintain vehicles, not make excuses all the time.

Sorry you're having so much trouble with them...

Bad service from a dealership always leaves a bad taste and I am sure we have all been there before.

However I would also like to say that not all dealership service centres are the same, I know of one Ford dealer I would be quite happy to go back to, but also a couple I wouldnt. I also experienced the same distinction on dealerhsip servicing with Holden when I had my Ute so even though you are ****ed at Ford the grass may not be greener on the other side (at another car manufacturer)

Well got the car back today..

Went in like this

and came out like this

Got the switch fixed and its all as good as gold now, unfortunately they didnt give me a price on it.

The spotlight is still dead, as they dont have globes in stock, so thats on order and will be in monday - at least this time i was told, rather then a sorry the fog light has never worked, its only painted on - so that will be done tuesday.

Car got a nice wash and vaccum and even came back to me with 3/4 tank of fuel after I left it on dead empty.

Once i get the foggies fixed, will make it a point of thanking the manager guy who helped me out, he really has been the only one that has got anything happening.
