Default Aerial speed patrols, 12 months on.

Remember this tread:

http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthr...r+speed+patrol

Well driving down the Hume last night, I got thinking about the white lines painted on the road. The question I have is:

12 months on, has anyone been booked? Have you even heard of a mate of a mate's sisters's cousin being booked?

I haven't.

Has this been a big waste of Tax payers money? Is it just a scare campain?

Thoughts?

I was selling a car last year and had my phone number on the rear window in big white stickers. As I was flying along the M3 I got a txt from the pilot of one of these saying "m8, 5l0 dn 50 I c4n g37 yr pl8. 4l50, c4n y4 71l7 i7 up 4 m3? l8trs ****".

I didn't bother and just out ran him...

I'm interested to know how you discovered that this was a txt from a pilot and not a text from a random motorist?

I drive through that section at menangle 3-4 times a week, if you got booked from these planes you deserve it, you would have to be driving with your eyes closed to miss them, they fly so low you would have to be blind not to see them................ I cannot see how anyone could get booked from them, they can only operate when the conditions are perfect with clear skys etc....
If any thing they are dangerous to motorist due to the distraction they cause.

I wondered how low they'd have to fly.

I figure if it's cloudy / rainy then you don't have to worry about a thing.

Keeping in mind I'm a financial / mathematic retard, it doesn't make sense to me the cost involved in having an aircraft in the sky doing circles unless you make a whole heap of cashish.. I mean sure they say they aren't doing it for the cash, but I think we've grown out of that one

Rarely used, single plane available on rare occasion. Was simply a NSW Labor gimmick, as it was by them many years before, when it was later realised to be too costly for little or no return.

The lines marked every 500metres on freeway will not be refreshed, the coalition will not support this enforcement.

We will see greater numbers of HWP in marked and unmarked cars, operating independently from RTA's Road Safety branch who under Labor - funded HWP enforcement in targeted blitzes.

NSW new transport minister (DG) has stated he hates/doesn't like speed cameras. TV ads regarding the point to point cameras targeting heavy vehicles with the slogan "the law of averages applies" have just been televised with NSW government endorsement, BUT these ads were timed for release after the election, to give folk the impression it's all the coalitions doing.

RTA will face scrutiny.

Easy... he dipped his wings then did a loop to show me he was cool. He actually landed at Mooney Mooney and let me wakeboard behind him. Great guy.

I assume that message said; "Mate, slow down so I can get your plate. Also, can you tilt it up for me? laters."
Is that correct? I'm rubbish at text talk.

I drive the f3 from central coast to Sydney daily and I have only ever seen a plane flying over the freeway twice. I think you would have to be very unlucky to get done by the aerial patrol

Aside from the bun fight ... They used planes in WA on the road to Geraldton when I was over there in 1981. Regular road users tilted their side mirrors upward to sight the planes.
