Hi All,
Just wondering if I can have any close ups of the way the gas pipe feeds into the black intake piping (connecting to Throttle Body) please? I went to pull my intake pipe off to clean out the throttle body today and the darn thing wouldn't come off. I noticed that the screw in gas pipe piece was very close to the TB. It appears to be so close that it's hindering the rubber that seals the pipe to the TB. Here's what I mean: Also, I just noticed from these pics that the rubber has actually been cut, to allow the gas hose and fitting to get very close to the TB. Does anyone else have a setup as such? I'm thinking I might get another pipe and rescrew the gas pipe back just a little, but I'd like to see how others have theirs set up before I do anything. Thanks everyone in advance. GK P.S I know it's obvious that my engine bay needs a bit of a pressure wash! LOL!

Mine is very close but it doesn't cut into the rubber, instead sitting about 5mm away from the rubber seal.

and after all that you don't really need to take it off.
You just have to undo the air intake pipe and leave the mixer in there ... clean the throttle body and put it back again. yes it is to be that close . the mixer "ring" is to sit right up to the throttle body.. looks like yours is factory gas with that sort of set up.

I can't seem to get the rubber off the TB. I've just had a look at a spare TB I have. It's got quite a large lip that the rubber needs to get over. I'll give it another go when I get a longer period of time to have a proper crack at it. GK

Mine is the same setup, as has been stated, the easiest way to remove the intake pipe is to unscrew the brass fitting, I've had mine off a few times, you'll be surprised how easy it comes apart with the fitting removed.

sorry, but there is no need to remove the brass fitting as everyone suggests. it screws in to the mixer and is not attached to the T/B. what may have happened is the intake has "glued" it self to the t/b from the wax in the gas. another possibility is that it was siliconed onto the t/b. just make sure all hose clamps and bolts holding the ducting in place are lose/removed and then just pull like buggery while giving it a good wiggle around. it will eventually come free.

The mixer ring on my car is permanently attatched to the throttle body, it has a metal lip which has been folded down over the edge of the throttle body and appears as though the intention was for it to never (ever) be removed without mangling the mixer ring, so to take off the intake, you need to unscrew the brass fitting.

you can still clean the tb with the mixing ring left in there if you cant take it off (like mine), but you'll find it a little easier if you take the throttle body off the manifold (4 bolts) so you can get in from behind easier.

Ive got an AU s1 with tickford factory set up.
The Mixer and TB are a one piece unit, you cant seperate the mixer from the TB. To remove the intake pipe you have to remove the brass fitting as it thread into the mixer. |

Yeah i didnt read the date either, but where do you find the balance between starting a new thread about an existing topic, and diging up an old thread?
Seems both are irritating to alot of members here. |

don't worry, it didn't irritate me, i was just stirring you guys up, that's all. it's better to see people actually doing searches rather than having pages of new threads with the same topics in them.
