Default Eco Boost. What are the chances of an F4???????

Would you want one?

If FPV got 220kw and 430nm out of the fourpotter, the handling should be the best in the stable and the economy still better than the N/A 6.

Depends. We know the Focus RS and Focus ST (Focus XR5T in OZ) will be getting the EcoBoost engine to replace the I5 Volvo engine. So if that is the case, FPV may have the option to take the Focus RS and re-badge it as an FPV.

I dont think that will happen though, as i remember FPV saying they would want to make their own. I think i also remember FPV saying they dont want to do it right now. Times are changing though, if they keep dropping models there might be room for other things.

Would i buy one? No, it isn't in line with where i am at in my life (new baby etc). 10 years ago? Definitely on the cards.

I'd want it in a Focus for sure, but not in a Falcon, as others have said.

The ecoboost is designed to boost the eco credibility of the falcon and ford in general, so there is next to no chance of there being anything to do with fpv or even an xr variant.

I'm assuming you mean a Falcon XR variant? The EcoBoost is meant to be replacing the Volvo I5 engine in the Focus ST (the Euro version of our XR5T) so it will most likely make it into an XR variant, albeit a Focus XR5T.

Chuck the 2L EB4 into the Fiesta, 170Kw in a 1090kg car O_o and chuck a FPV badge on it.

Yes.

But that would depend on the I4 sales. IT would be interesing to see, it would probabally fit better at the 'GS' end of the range.

If they put on a T66 turbo with NOS and a Motec system exhaust then maybe.

If the EB 2.0 could output those figures (and I bet it can), that's the same power as the original gen 3 (which seemed to be thought of as powerful) and slightly less torque, but remember the gen 3 was quite 'peaky' in it's torque delivery, whereas the EB motors have peak torque from 1700-5000rpm. Couple that to a nice 6+ speed auto, it's going to be faster than a VT series 2 SS.

Ohh great it will be marginally faster than a 10 year old car............

Things have moved on, and a FPV 4 cylinder performance Falcon just doesn't seem the right fit.

So you think a Gen 3 SS is slow? Well don't you have bloody high expectations? LOL. Funny how things are moving on, but yet some people still have the "no replacement for displacement" motto.

Well said.

Will it hurt brand image? No

Imagine, if it did happen, and you could get the economy of a standard 6cly falcon, but with a good dose of power, 220-30kw?

An "economical" FPV hass the potential to attract customers and attention to the brand.

You are 100% right about things moving on & a EB4 turbo is probably a better fit then a V8 Turbo in the current environment.. If FPV had have been around 10 years ago, I'm sure there would have been people laughing at a i6T in an FPV type of Falcon.. Who knows where we'll be in another 10 years??
