Default Show us ya Bra

dont think ive seen a thread for this

my car is currently getting repaired which will include a full front end respray so ill be investing in a car bra and am wondering how they look on some ba's

ive seen a orange fg on here at some point with a car bra with matching stitching would be awesome if someone knows where that is?

also ive got a ba turbo that will have a Bf GT front bar and a boss bonnet does this affect the car bra i need?

also what should i be looking at in terms of cost?

cheers for the help

on a BF but you get the idea...

I know of someone who fitted a BA bra to a BF and had overheating problems, the small difference in the lower insert mesh was enough to be a hassle.

A genuine car bra (as in the business) will set you back around $450 but that included the stripes and custom wording/stitching etc.

I bought one for my car and only use it on trips to Brissie and back.

Was just looking and I don't have any of it on the car during the last trip due to the poor weather,
but I've learnt to fit it better now and it only take a couple of minutesto get on.

Here's the one on my BF F6

And this one on my FG F6 doing around 160kph or so under the bridge at Lakeside.
I've sold the FG but still have the Bra if anyone's interested.

Do all FG Falcon car bras fit all FG models? Like a GT car bra only fits a GT? Or would it still fit a G6ET? Just curios, after a big road trip to Noosa from Adelaide and the locusts, you get the picture hahahaha

As ugly as some people believe a carbra maybe, they do serve a purpose.

Default bra

So much easier to take the bra off and hose the bugs off......rather than getting them clogged in the radiator and AC condensor.
I make them for BA/BF/FG XR6/8 turbo GT etc Black only-$330 incl gst-no fancy stripes etc but a perfect fit with heavy duty soft backed material-1mm thick clear PVC over the lights and mesh over grilles etc- NEVER had a customer complain about over heating or damage to paint.

Check my site www.globaltrim.com.au
Click on PRODUCTS and scroll down, you will see pics of bras fitted.

Thats mine behind J.C.'s TS - I actually like black vinyl bra on blue compared to lace
Look they aren't the best looking item on any car TBH but my as others have said they serve the purpose perfectly.
If your car is a daily it would be a PIA but when your beloved is a garge queen and only comes out for cameo appearances or interstate meets/shows they are GOLD as above.
I hate stone chips on her and on certain colours they stand out like dogs balls ala blueprint - having gone through 3resprays it would be more if it wasn't for my black vinyl BRA
Easy to look after once you know how and well worth it ! DGAF how it looks to others......

TBH I'd prefer stone chips in my paint. I'd never put one on my car.

Well if I get a stone chip, then oh well. Likely it will only be seen from a close distance.
But 99% of the time those bras look quite ugly.

They don't sweat. There is a felt type underlining.
And as for your cost analysis. Your touch up would certainly be a "touch up".

I have a 1100k round trip starting tomorrow. Rest assured I shall be installing the carbra on the blue TS before leaving........regardless if people like them or not. As I stated prior, they serve a purpose.

P.S. Ben73. Are you saying that the silver carbra looks ugly on my TS? I thought it looked just fine.

Yours looks alright since its the same colour more or less.

Something like a black on one a red car looks very ugly though.

If I had a good car I may get one for a long distance country drive. But for city use I would just leave it.

I've got a yellow carbra for my yellow SP. However due to some suspension related issues i haven't been able to use it the last couple of trips i've done, which has seen the front of the ute sustain a little damage.

Regarding the heat, i drove my SP from Moree to Adelaide in the middle of summer, with the days being over 40 degrees, plus travelling 110km/h+ towards Broken Hill (110 is legal out that way) with no problems

Mine is black on black and looks good IMO. I don't use it for city driving. Only when I'm heading to Sydney or a long trip. A necessity with all the roadworks between brissy and Sydney.

I had to go to Brisbane last December over a weekend. I left on Friday night and got back at midnight on Sunday with a bit of running around while I was there. I did over 2,700ks over that weekend and had my car bra on the whole time. By the time I got back the bra was absolutely covered in all sorts of crap with quite a few large chips due to the road works on the Princess highway which would have been in my paintwork. I removed the bra on Monday morning and even thought it rained a few times over the weekend the front of the car was spotless.
They many not look to pretty but I never go on long trips without throwing on the bra these days.
My bra is felt lined and I had no issues at all with sweating.

How do the car bras stand up to cleaning after use? What would you do to clean all the bugs off?
