Default visually? what looks best under the hood?

When we consider ford falcon or holden commodore, tickford, fpv or hsv

When engine looks best under the hood?

The holden v6 has always looked tiny under the hood, the i6 looked ok from the fuel injjected modes on.

The boss 5.4 looks like a brute of a motor filling every square inch of space. The ls series seemed too small to overwelm visually.

What is your favourite underbonnet greeting from commodore or falcon derivants. Post photos for everyones benefits.

Please keep to stock underbonnet appearance or mild visual mods only.

Not a fan of of the T3 engine cover personally. Big fan of whats under the cover though.

A boss does look quite menacing under the hood. I look at my 3V and think thats one mother of a motor, until I look at a boss.

I love that engine, but visually they aren't that special. (nor is my T2)

I think visually a lot of the late model Fords suffer from a lack of symmetry withe the big intake pipe haning off one side. The Coyote doesn't and is better for it.

Look at the pic of the SOHC motor with twin 4 barrels is very easy on the eye.

The Italians Ferrari Alfa-Romeo etc have had some beautifully done engines.

My fave is a neat small block V8 with a single carb,

An engine that's easy to get your hands down between the block and the inner guard....That way, you're not ripping skin off left right and centre.

So I guess, that rules the boss out and to a certain extent the I6.

If you can reach down to the ground without ripping the skin off your arms and hands, it has my vote.

As for appealing engines...I've painted my Holden engine a combination of orange and black. Starts with a black tappet cover and goes to an orange head to a black block and orange sump. The bolt on bits are the opposite colour to the engine part they're attached to. ie, black thermostat housing to break up the orange head.

I have a splattering of chrome thrown in, to mix it up too. Of course this isn't a factory "option", but seeing as people are throwing all sorts of weird and wonderful engines on here, I thought I'd throw this into the mix for funzies.

Since they started putting covers over the engines all you can see is a large blob of plastic and all the untidy looking ancillary stuff around it.

So for me, none of the above.

Personally i like the boss engine bays. They always look good when tidyied up a little. My favourite would be pauls twin turbo fpv. Its just so tidy.
He inspired me to start tidying up my own engine bay
