Default Damn Keys Help Me Out!

ok so over the years the cars in the family regualry and friends have been :

VS Commo wagon. SOLD Both sets of keys sold with car
EF falcon. currently in brothers posession. Both sets of keys accounted for
VX commodore wagon. both sets of keys accounted for
BA 1 fairmont. both sets of keys sold with car
BF Xr6. both sets accounted for
BA fairlane g220. both sets accounted for

Friends cars.
AU forte. both sets of keys accounted for.
AU futura both sets of keys account for
AU furura. both sets sold with car
AU fairmont both sets sold with car
BA futura Both Sets accounted for
BA XT both sets accounted for,

now . . . in my spare keys draw there is:
1 set of commodore keys
1 set of EF remote and ef key tagged with the efs licence plate
1 set of BF remote and key. tagged with licence number
and... this bloody mystery set

1 EF/L sedan Keyfob with smart lock written in it.
1 AU/BA key
1 EF AU glovebox key..

this set will not fit any of the ba / au falcons door locks
the remote will not open the ef

what the bloody hell model could it be from?
the family is clueless. can provide a picture...

if i cant identify it to a car i will be taking the keyfob and coding it to the ef as the ef spare set has the doors button dead.

thank u

Hi,

From what I can see the round headed silver key is for a glove compartment (if you were unaware) the other black topped one is definitely a smartlock key perhaps from an EB - ED. I think the EB was the first model for smartlock design ?? AFAIK most of the later models don't have locking glove compartments , my '05 BA XR6 hasn't anyway !!! So I would confidently say it is suited to a pre - 2000 model if that helps.

My BA has the same Key, My EF has the same Fob, and the EF, the AU and the BA all have the same glove box key. (Yes the BA Has a lockable glove box, Mk1 at least)

early AU1's had smartlock not smartshield...

if i found it on the ground somewhere, i would presume it'd be from an AU1

i would definetly say it is for AU1 or later, EB-EL has a more rounded key like the one lower in the pic, so my guess is something later than EL

AU 1 key.

listen to peuty, he is correct.

provided that that key and fob are matched.

the key could be anywhere from AU 1 - BA (dunno when the new keys rolled out)

and the fob can be anywhere from E(whichever had central locking) - AU 1

Ok, as others have said it is DEFINITELY a set of AU1.5 keys. The square key (not a BA key, they had AU keys ) denotes the car having Smartshield (which came with the AU1 upgrade) and the keypad denotes the car being a series one.

yes, it could be cut for another car, the key will have a transponder chip in it to work with the smartshield cars, but the only "encoding" for the older style keys is just the way they are cut, lol. so, yes, it could be a au2 on key cut for a pre au2 car...

Default EL remote

Just happened to be pulling apart and EL remote (a friend's car) and a Google took me to this post. The remote doesn't work and that is why I have it apart looking at it. Looks pretty good inside and the battery is good but I am stumped as to what is wrong with it.

Seeing how I have it apart the details on it are:

9905 069 046 M74AB (black chip)

S+M (silver thingy which I think is a transistor)
R1534
AJ4

inside the plastic cover it has PA66

I have a set of AUI Keys and both the Fob and Key are different. As far as I know the square keys only came in on BA, and are different to everything else.

Wrong again.

I am telling you now that halfway through the AU1 cycle they updates the Smartlock system to Smartsheild, which meant the old round E Series key was done away with, with the square key being the replacement.

If you look at the keys hanging from the ignition of my SERIES ONE you will see my spare keys, which are square and if you look really really closely, you will see the keypad as well, which is the old E Series style.

Fair enough, and when I see the AU next I'll take a pic, but I have a completely different key and fob for the AU that we do for the EF and the BA. Might be different because its a ute?

OK all, I have a question about the keys supplied for my BF Futura Wagon. I bought the car 2nd hand and have been supplied with two sets of keys with remotes. However I cannot find a use for a key that has been supplied with each set. The one in question is the one circled. Just so that you know it does not fit the glovebox and there is no lock inthe tailgate.
