Secondly, I find that a lot of "non-car people" who are sold a ceramic coating then believe the coating makes the paint indestructible. They therefore never wash it, and when they do, its usually at some sort of touchless car wash and all the harsh chemicals that come with that. Yes, a coating should resist that, but they can't resist neglect.

...

NV EVO gets good reviews, it's actually a hybrid Graphene coating. I would rule out Gtechniq CSL, it's an amazing coating but I feel its longevity is lacking compared to the competition. If it were me, I would be doing Gyeon Mohs EVO, this brings the longevity up without sacrificing slickness, something missing from most coatings.

In this case, I would be giving it a light polish to remove anything that might be lingering (if at all), and/or a wipe down with Gyeon's new Total Remover, then Gyeon Prep, then Mohs.

Thanks DFB, I think it was neglect and car washes to be most likely the cause. I do find a 3 month top up with a detailer (Boost V2 etc) following a decon has the coatings just like new, whereas as the Tesla I did with CQUk3.0, the owner is saying its noticeably lost a bit of beading after 18 months and being 20 he does wash with the Snow I gave him but has never used the detailer. Just shows that you need to maintain.

I think I'll follow my usual routine of Lift, IronX with clay mitt, Essence with LC Orange pads, Reveal Strong (just ordered last night), NV Evo.

I think the EVO is the best option given the driver is a young, busy person and she doesn't have the time to maintain as much as I would. @bfets I do agree with you and both my personal cars are done manually by me with spray coatings and toppers. Nothing like it.

Thankyou all again for your assistance. Now I'm just waiting for my massive Waxit order to come, at least I saved over $200 and finally got my pressure washer upgrade kit and MTM Cannon as recommended here.

I've said it here time and time again about coatings, this is the reason I don't have them on my garage queens and I only coated the territory as a set and forget. On my Fairlane Sportsman I did the tops as I was parking under trees every day, so it was like a strong sacrifiial layer.

The thing is, coatings just require so much maintenance. If you are having to top a coating, you may as well just use a great spray wax or something like 845 and then top it. Then you have great protection, better gloss, better water behaviour and less maintenance than a ceramic coating.

My Territory, it's coated with Nova EVO. Now I am impressed with the coating but I did it two years ago and washed it around once every two months. It is covered in water spots now, i mean covered. I spent a fair amount of time trying to get them out without taking the coating off during the two years it's been on.

If I take into account the mount of time i've spent preparing for the coating, then dealing with water spots, having to "clean" the coating. I would have been much better off using 845 or Lustre and just re-doing that every 6 months. Then I also wouldn't have a car covered in water spots.

I'm convinced for the average punter ceramic coatings are sold as a marketing gymic to get more money out of people. Because the average punter does not look after the coating and it goes to crap within 6 months as it's had no maintenance.

I am happy I used Nova EVO on my Sportsman as the amount of tree sap and filth that went on it over two years was massive and I didn't top it and neglected it. I will just correct it to take the coating off and do 845 next detail.

Agree with your comments, I think it does depend on the use case. I did 3 cars for just over $100 with the EVO and with quarterly minor maintenance (QD/drying aid) they are going fine. I would not have the energy across 6 cars to decon, prep and spray coat every 3-6 months. I do spray coats, glossy detailers etc for my personal cars and the ceramic suits my family and friends.

I did have 1 EVO covered car, black, with water spot issues but only on the bonnet and not the roof. After all of it i believe it was coming up from underneath. Did a big remover exercise and polish, covered it with a wet look sealant (Lustre or Seal and Shine?) and its going ok.

Thanks for your comments.
