Used to love the old 'Pick N Payless' style wreckers.
I know there is one in Dapto, south of Wollongong, but that does not help you much, but it's the only one I know of.

Just looking at their web site it appears they stopped doing 'Pick your own Parts', it says not open to general public and full service wrecking yard.
I was there only a few weeks ago and got a whole AC system for one of my projects that I removed myself.
I bet some princess got a splinter and put in a claim or the insurance just got too much.
