If buying new, For Off-road and touring I would take the Patrol they are just such a tough 4WD and even stock they are very capable, Thou now that Nissan have had to drop the 4.2Ltr diesel and the 3.0ltr should have been booted long ago, the Toyota is better that's talking Wagons thou, With the Utes it's a hard pick between the 79 and the Coil Cab patrols the Patrols have the more refined inside and look a bit nicer and are still tough as but only come with the 3.0Ltr diesel now as well, the Tojo utes have the Nice V8 diesel now and the inside is a little more rugged and durable too IMO.

Second-hand, I would take a Coil cab patrol with a 6.5 Intercooled supercharged Chev Diesel, :
