The 01 benz my mum had had a very primitive version of the aeb. So no sensors but if you nailed the brakes and took your foot off it would stop regardless. I think that was a thing aimed towards persons who bought cars in the 90s and did the thing where if they nailed the brakes and weren't used to the new fangled 'anti lock braking system' would panic about the pulsating pedal and take their foot off the brake and therefore a heavier reliance on seatbelts and airbags. Never had to use the nail it and auto stop thing in my mums old benz. I did try it though in safe conditions with me mates in the car. 255s all around, a good stab and i got asked less then politely to not do that again.
