I should have been more specific - the hose doesn't actually kink (ie fold on itself) but I find that it continually coils on itself and will not lay out flat. I suspect that it is the way it is constructed with a hard-ish plastic and what feels like wire reinforcing inside, and it is the hose 'memory' that is the issue. I want something that will lay flat and be supple and won't coil up.

Perhaps it is the way it is rolled up? Do you roll it up like thread on a bobbin, or do you roll, one loop, turn the next coil back on itself etc. It's easy to demonstrate, but hard to explain. Search You Tube for rolling up a hose, or power lead.
